LATEST NEWS, NOVEMBER 2009. GOTE golfer Guy Woodman has won the Australian PGA Assistants Championship in New South Wales this month. The West Berkshire pro - in his third year of PGA pro training - won by three shots and pocketed £5,500. Having won both the English and UK Assistants titles last year, this is further proof that the 32-year-old has still to reach his full potential. Guy starred in both GOTE1 and GOTE2 and his stories of Q School struggle have been among the most uplifting and also the most heart-breaking for fans of the two books. In fact, when Guy somehow missed out at First Stage of Q School this year, I was more upset than I’ve ever been about the progress (or otherwise) of the GOTE golfers. He really deserves a chance in the Big Leagues, but I suppose “deserving” is just not enough. However, the international win makes up for Q School disappointment, but typical of the Aussies, they managed to tarnish his win with a little show of insularity. The Aussie assistants title should have led to an exemption for Guy at next year’s Australian PGA tournament. However, due to the fact that he’s English, the Aussies have withdrawn the invitation! Outrageous! And they wonder why we take such a delight in winning The Ashes! Add Comment First Post! 01/15/2010
