WOODMAN WINS TWO MORE. 09/18/2010
Guy Woodman (East Berks) has added another couple of victories to his tally for 2010 with a five-under-par 64 in the Badgemore Park Pro-Am and a seven-under-par 65 in the Tylney Park Sprint. Woodman, who earlier this year won the 2010 Powerade PGA Assistants' Championship for the second time in three years and then in August the PGA South Region Assistants' Championship supported by the Golf Business, is turning in some excellent performances in the second half of this year. While he has only played in 12 events of the PGA South Region schedule - just two of the Order of Merit tournaments, Woodman is in the top 10 of the OOM and could well improve on that with two more stroke play events left to play. In the last 10 days Woodman has been adding to his tally of Pro-Ams in fine style. His seven-under-par 65 in the Tylney Park Sprint included an impressive burst of four birdies on the back nine from the 11th through to the 14th, and another birdie on the last hole for good measure. Woodman won with an eye-opening three stroke margin, leaving Paul Nessling (Cooden Beach) and current money list and OOM leader Richard Wallis (Walmer & Kingsdown) tied in second place. Heading towards the climax of the season, Woodman and Wallis went head to head again in the Badgemore Park Pro-Am. Yet again, Woodman got the better of things with a cracking five-under-par 64, winning by an even wider margin of four strokes, pushing the ever consistent Wallis and battler Mark Allison (Sunbury Golf Centre) into second place.
